Appalachian Grizzled Skipper
Pyrgus Wyandot
Printed on Walnut o-gami paper
The Southern Grizzled Skipper is a small, brown, gray, and white butterfly native to the Appalachian highlands. It is known for its characteristic checkered wing pattern, and its unusual flight pattern – this butterfly rarely flies higher than three feet from the ground, and does so in quick, jerky movements. All species of skipper prefer open, sparsely vegetated areas. A very large population of Appalachian Grizzled Skipper was recently discovered to inhabit a stretch of Wayne National Forest. These effects are magnified by its relatively long life cycle: it takes the Green Salamander as long as 7-8 years to reach reproductive maturity. These prints are numbered and signed by the artist. There are only 1 prints left. Once those are gone there will be no more available.
